Day 5 - June 29th

Today everyone had the chance to sleep in, swim, or just hangout, it’s our synod day and it was at our hotel. We also met up with Dawn, our grocery delivery gal!
After JJ’s for lunch, we headed up to the Texas Ballroom to begin our day. There was some gathering songs, videos, ice breakers and worship. Some games played included evolution (rock, paper, scissors), people to people, and shake another hand.

Getting to the NRG Stadium was challenging with the light rail being down due to a semi rollover. When we finally got there, we just chilled till the evening show and passed out the parents letters. Must of been allergies in the air, a few watery eyes. :-)

The evening mass Gathering was absolutely incredible. Everyone of the speaker‘s messages were messages that needed to be heard. The theme of the evening was God’s Grace Changes Everything.

Will Starkweath told the story of his life and how four words changed his life, “there’s grace for that.  And Nadia Bolzano Weber brought the entire stadium to their feet several times as she told her life story. And the musical artist, Tauren Wells, had the  place rockin with an unbelievable show. Then back to the hotel and right to bed, service learning day tomorrow.

Day 4 - June 28th

Day 4 - June 28th
Today was our Interaction Learning Day at the NRG Center. The Old Lutheran Store provided lots of souvenirs for the group and we had priority passes for our group picture and the ropes course. So much fun and everyone cheered when Audrey did the Power Jump! Then after some ice cream, brain freezes, milkshakes and Ninja Dan scoring some free ice cream, we headed to the mass cast at NRG Stadium.
The 2nd night of the gathering we opted to not try to be on the floor, sat up high in the first level giving us a totally different perspective. Caroline Meeker was the opening speaker, great message about her eating disorder and how God’s Love helped her overcome the things she faced everyday. The highlight of the night for speakers was Marion Hall, a very dynamic speaker talking about how God’s Love Changes Everything. When he brought his young daughter to the stage, the stadium roared as he showed the love he has for her! All of our youth really enjoyed the drum and bugle corp.  Some incredible drumming. We have our synod day tomorrow, in our hotel, kids are sleeping in.
